It’s days away from the card-giving consumer fest that is Valentine’s Day, and so here at FilmFile HQ I’m getting a little emotional, and a more than a little romantic. However, I don’t want to come across too mushy, so feel there always needs to be a bit of wit and japery involved….much like a rom-com.

So, this Sunday at 8pm on Twitter we will taking a look at the world of the Rom-Com, and maybe, just maybe, I will be convinced of a few films to watch over the Valentine period…or maybe I’ll be put off rom-coms for life…who knows. Either way, I wholeheartedly expect at least one person to turn up at my door holding a boombox in the air, blasting out an iconic tune.

Q8: Every few years it seems that the decline of the rom-com is predicted, and yet they are still prevalent today.  What is it that makes the genre such a mainstay of cinema, when other genres (eg westerns) struggle to make an impact? #MTOS

Q9: Very often, the rom com genre is considered to be aimed at the female audience, but is this the case, or is this just naïve snobbery toward the genre, rather than a genuine criticism? #MTOS
