As we roll over into the third year since that fateful Sunday when, on a whim, I decided to ‘reboot’ Movie Talk On Sunday, it is safe to say that the regular chats are going strong. I have to admit, over the past two years there were times when I felt like I would run out of steam at some point, and I worried about running out of ideas, and it stuttering to a halt.

But, thanks to contributions from others such as @nakedairplane, @blairbear83, @saltiredpopcorn, @pattilabelle77, @Allesklar71, and most recently @Dennis_Obi (who has provided this week’s questions, and has another 6 topics already lined up for future weeks), it has ensured that we never run dry, and look set to keep going with our fun Sunday evening chats.

Also, let’s not forget the importance of all of you guys who take part each week, and who have become a really great bunch of film-buddies over on Twitter. Each an every one of you make these chats worth continuing, and I love you all – yes, even those who think Mamma Mia is a good film!

So, this week, let’s repeat the theme of these annual posts – we started with reboots, we did sequels last year to celebrate, now lets go full franchise and look at the whole kit and kaboodle of sequels, prequels, spinoffs, reboots…..the works!

Join us at 8pm on Sunday 28th June over on Twitter as we chat around the following questions, whilst celebrating another anniversary for #MTOS

Q1: Hollywood has certainly had a fair share of rebooted movies and franchise, but which ones are the best examples to show why things should continue to be remade/updated? #MTOS

Q2: However, there are definitely some failures in the reboot department.  What do you consider the most unnecessary reboot? #MTOS

Q3: Prequels often attempt to fix supposed plot-holes, or provide some compelling backstory to the original film.  Are there any good examples where this worked well, making for a good prequel? #MTOS

Q4: Sequels, on the other hand, look to grow the story, and expand out on the original (or so they claim), but which sequels actually did a good job of not just repeating what came before? #MTOS

Q5: The ‘trilogy’ or ‘franchise’ seems to be the norm in Hollywood these days (they even claim that Mamma Mia was planned as a trilogy!!!), but are there any trilogies that should have stayed at one film, and why? #MTOS

Q6: Are there any films that currently don’t have sequels or prequels that should remain that way, and be left to simply be a standalone film? #MTOS

Q7: Which sequel, prequel, reboot, or spinoff (the whole range) based upon a nostalgic film from your childhood is your favourite, and why? #MTOS

Q8: What, in your opinion, is the most unnecessary reboot, sequel, prequel or spinoff ever made? (And the first joker to say #MTOS gets put on the naughty step!) #MTOS

Q9: Spinoff films give a chance to expand a different story within the same world/universe setting.  Are there any good examples which did the original series proud? #MTOS

Q10: If you could take any one character and put them in your own spinoff movie and/or franchise of their own, who would you pick and why? #MTOS
